A bit of History:  The mission started in 1945, originally named Church of the Holy Innocents, because Fremont was the home of Gerber Baby Foods. Soon the name was changed to The Episcopal Church of St John the Evangelist.

10 FOR 10 A FIVE-YEAR TEN-POINT VISION FOR ST JOHN'S
We aim to achieve the following goals by the end of 2010.

  • To have an average Sunday congregation of 70 persons.
  • To be a multi-generational congregation, with good numbers of children, youth, 'Gen-X", "Boomers" and "Builders".
  • To be a multi-cultural congregation, with a good variety of social backgrounds and church experience.
  • To have an active children's ministry.
  • To support a full time Rector solely by the giving of Church members.
  • To give to local and global needs at the rate of 5% of pledge income.
  • To enjoy a variety of worship experiences.
  • To have fruitful midweek groups for prayer and Bible Study.
  • To form a close partnership with St Mark's Church, Newaygo.
  • To build good partnerships with Churches in the Fremont area.


    To be God's Family, reaching up to Him and out to His World.
